ROCHESTER, NY - A co-founder of Gunther International has joined Videk to help lead the company's efforts to market its invisible imaging technologies.

William H. Gunther III will join Videk as Director of Special Imaging Solutions, effective February 12, 2001. Gunther will assume sales and marketing leadership and business development for Videk's new InViZiCode solutions. The solutions provide a real-time method to read and decode invisible ink for high speed Optical Character Recognition (OCR), linear and 2D barcodes. Invisible ink printing and reading enables the application of high-density barcodes on documents without impinging on the aesthetic elements of the documents.

"Bill's experience and leadership will be instrumental in developing business opportunities and in marketing our state-of-the-art invisible imaging technologies," said Tom Slechta, Videk president.

Gunther's entire career has been focused on developing the field of intelligent document finishing systems. While at Gunther, he helped develop and market the first intelligent finishing system able to read intelligent bar codes. Gunther also worked to develop and market complex finishing systems to meet the individual needs of many of the top 100 insurance companies including Aetna, Chubb, USAA, Allstate and The Travelers.

For the past three years, Gunther has been an industry champion for the development and use of invisible document bar codes. Most recently, he was instrumental in forming a Hewlett-Packard/Gunther International (inc.jet) partnership, promoting the use of invisible ink to assure document security. Hewlett Packard developed the invisible ink and Gunther International's inc.jet division developed the technology for printing it. Videk's role in this partnership is to bring the total solution to market in a variety of stand-alone and integrated product offerings with its OEM printer and finishing partners.
